CMAC News update 24th July 2010.
Club members on site today were Geb, Ben, John, Mike, Kevin and Jerry and myself. Kevin and John both brought their wives with them as a treat for the day. I hope they enjoyed the experience. Mike arrived around midday and went straight to the heli pad which is about half way between the fixed wing runway and where Geb and Ben practice their pylon racing. While on the subject of pylon racing Ben mentioned that they had won three out of four qualifier competitions for entry to the team to represent GB in Australia next year. They came second in the fourth competition.
John brought his Adrenaline this week as his Extra 300L by Colombo Design is still on the workbench undergoing a small repair job. This was caused by the engine dying just after liftoff and John had no option but to pancake the model on the grass last week damaging the undercarriage. Poor John is not having a good time just now as he lost the radio link with the Adrenaline and it was totalled.
Ben came up to join us for some proper flying later and Geb left early for another appointment.
Jerry had about ten percent of his air force with him today but only managed to fly a couple of them. One being his large petrol engine job.
Kevin was another with a petrol engine job, it being a Monocoupe with Zenoa 38cc petrol engine. A lovely looking model and a smooth flyer. Kevin also had a couplr of jets to fly, one being his Rafael with artwork on the tail.
I took my Venus 40 to fly and my Hurricane model to set up the engine and generally check out control movements etc with a view to maiden her. As the day wore on the wind caused some concern, and as I was feeling a bit jaded, I decided not to attempt a flight today and left it for another time. There is also some more I can do in the workshop to improve the model controls before attempting a flight.
There are some more photos for you to see in our picture gallery.
That’s all for now.
Safe flying and good landings to all.

Certificates
The club members would like to congratulate all the club's A certificate holders.
The first member to pass was Sam, one of our junior members, who was flying a "Patdancer" to take his test. This plane is an aerobatic fun model of a design by one of our members and not what people usually use to take their "A" certificate with.
The second member to pass was John, one of our senior members who has been flying for fun for a number of years and never thought of taking an achievement certificate. He was flying a "Super something" to take his test, which was the only plane he had with him that day. This plane is again an aerobatic fun model.
Adam also passed his A certificate earlier this year. Adam is a keen flyer and it seems like he actually welcomes dead stick landings which you are bound to witness at least every second flight.
