CMAC News update 13th March 2010.

Another fine Saturday for flying. “When was the last one?” I hear you say. “Errr! Can’t remember.” Next weekend isn’t looking too hopeful either.

Today Cedric, Simon, Sam and Rob were NOT there. Instead there were Geb and Ben, Ian and Michael, John and myself, and three potential new members Edward, Malcolm and Colin. I am pleased to say that after viewing our facilities Malcolm and Colin decided that they would join our club and after Edward had experienced a couple of flights with the clubs trainer he appeared to be hooked as well.

I campaigned my Cougar 2000. Geb brought the club trainer for Edward to try and a pylon racer so Ben could start practicing for the new season. Ian and Michael had a Tutor 40, Travel Air and Another. John brought his new Osmose (not so new now) and EDF jet.

Unfortunately Michaels (Another) appear to lose the transmitter signal and although he wiggled the stick thingies furiously the aircraft would not respond and hit the deck upside down. The fuse and wing a total write-off. I lost the top off the front end of the fuse of the Cougar. This could be attributed to the wing bands losing their grip a little and allowing the strong wind to lift the front of the wing forcing the part off.

The last to leave the site were John and myself at around 3.45pm.

A good day was had by all, (except Michael) but I think he still had some fun.

That’s all for now.

Safe flying and good landings to all.

Certificates

The club members would like to congratulate all the club's A certificate holders.

The first member to pass was Sam, one of our junior members, who was flying a "Patdancer" to take his test. This plane is an aerobatic fun model of a design by one of our members and not what people usually use to take their "A" certificate with.

The second member to pass was John, one of our senior members who has been flying for fun for a number of years and never thought of taking an achievement certificate. He was flying a "Super something" to take his test, which was the only plane he had with him that day. This plane is again an aerobatic fun model.

Adam also passed his A certificate earlier this year. Adam is a keen flyer and it seems like he actually welcomes dead stick landings which you are bound to witness at least every second flight.
